It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
