In a surprising collaboration that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Uncovered

According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and terrifying changes resonate through the darkness." The plot features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine cult.

The mission centers on "strange trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the quest will acquire an unique katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Addition

This update also adds the game's latest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Crossovers

This represents scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
